AGES 2025 was held in Alice Springs from April 8 to 9, attracting close to 300 delegates and featuring a record 44 booths at the Mining Services Expo.
The technical program was packed with industry updates and exploration results from Prodigy Gold, Kingsland Minerals, URO Corp, Alligator Energy, King River Resources, Core Lithium, Encounter Resources, Litchfield Minerals, Empire Energy, Eastern Metals, and more.
Updates from collaborative partners included Geoscience Australia's federally funded Resourcing Australia’s Prosperity initiative, which continues its deep dive into the Birrindudu Basin region; CSIRO’s work on regolith-hosted rare earth element deposits; new insights into the timing and mineralisation of the Bynoe pegmatite field; and findings providing updated constraints on the timing of mineralisation in the Tennant Creek mineral field.
NTGS presented its work in the Pine Creek Orogen, including the NTGS Pine Creek ground gravity survey and the planned West Arnhem ground gravity survey. The Basement Geoscience team has been re-evaluating historical type sections, focusing on dating the igneous rocks in the Central Domain. This work is expected to revise the stratigraphic and tectonic understanding of the area, with exploration implications for the timing and distribution of known and potential polymetallic deposits in the Pine Creek Orogen.
New to the program this year was a special session on the Greater McArthur Basin, held on the Monday afternoon. This session showcased the outcomes of two successive Australian Research Council Linkage projects, led by the University of Adelaide in collaboration with NTGS and industry partners. The extended abstracts are available in the AGES 2025 Conference Proceedings, which can be downloaded through GEMIS. Presentations, posters, and select video recordings will be available soon.
Since 2000, the AGES extended abstracts have served as a valuable record of high-quality exploration and pre-competitive geoscience in the Northern Territory. They continue to facilitate knowledge sharing that contributes to exploration outcomes. Explore previous AGES abstracts and related publications through GEMIS.
