Carrara 1 core viewing

NTGS facilitated the core viewing session with industry, providing an opportunity for learning and discussion on the newly discovered Carrara depocentre in undifferentiated Proterozoic rocks underlying the Georgina Basin. The 1750m hole highlights the emerging energy and mineral resource potential of the Barkly region with disseminated sulfide mineralisation and hydrocarbon shows preserved.

Geoscience Australia contracted wireline data down the length of the hole, and will conduct geochronology, isotope studies, mineralogy, inorganic and organic geochemistry, petrophysics, geomechanics, thermal maturity and petroleum systems investigations on up 400 samples throughout the core.

Information on current NDI Carrara 1 outputs, including the poster of highlights and planned analysis, are available to download from Geoscience Australia's Exploring for the Future webpage.

Hylogger data is available to download from NTGS's GEMIS webpage.

Core viewing and/or sampling requests for Carrara 1 can be made through the NTGS request form.
