The Northern Territory's minerals sector has delivered $6.1 billion in 2025-26, an increase of 40% on the previous year and the highest result ever recorded.
Gold was the largest contributor, with production increasing to 13.36 tonnes and the value of gold sales rising by 60% to $2.67 billion, supported by sustained record gold prices.
Manganese also made a major contribution with production increasing 174% to 5.05 million tonnes and the value increasing to $1.46 billion, as production from South 32 Ltd GEMCO mine returns to normal operating levels following the impacts of Cyclone Megan in 2024.
Bauxite production rose to 13.2 million tonnes, generating $918 million in sales, while zinc-lead output remained strong at 638,000 tonnes, with sales valued at $897 million.
The 2025-26 result also reflects the continued diversification of the Territory’s resources sector, with lithium sales returning and a magnesite bulk sample sale contributing to the mineral production value for the first time.
