NTGS has released the latest Mining Developments in the Northern Territory report. It highlights the key developments, project milestones and industry updates from across the Territory since the previous edition in February 2026, with highlights including:
- Core Lithium resuming mining at Finniss Operations, Grants open pit
- Arafura Rare Earths’ Nolans rare earth project reaching FID and commencing full construction by September 2026
- Pan African Resources (Tennant Mines) acquiring 100% of Emmerson Resources assets, including the White Devil gold project, and more than 1,700km2 of exploration tenure
- Granting of an Environmental (Mining Licence) for Tennant Mine’s White Devil gold project
- Scoping study release and signed MoU for $50 million staged-investment with Sumitomo Corporation and ETFS Capital for Tivan’s Molyhil tungsten and molybdenum project.
- KGL Resources Ltd announced a Precious Metals Purchase Agreement with Wheaton Precious Metals International Ltd for $300 million, to partly fund construction of the Jervois copper-gold-silver project. An equity raise for $300 million is underway, positioning KGL to fully fund the development of Jervois through equity, and FID is expected in Q3 2026.
- Announcing of successful recipients for the NT government’s Geophysics and Drilling Collaborations (GDC) grants program. Thirty-four projects from 26 companies are being supported by the GDC program, with a record $4 million of co-funding being awarded. As of July 2026, 16 developing projects are moving through approvals and financing stages, representing an estimated $6.2 billion in capital investment. These projects span commodities including copper, rare earths, lithium, and gold, and are estimated to generate around 3,200 construction jobs and 2.800 ongoing operational roles. The report also includes summaries of the NT’s nine operating mines and seven advanced projects under feasibility (identified as approaching Developing Projects status).
