The NT Geological Survey (NTGS) have released a selection of videos of AGES 2024 presentations that focus on current activities and results under the Resourcing the Territory program, and new pre-competitive data and geoscience from the Territory's onshore basins.
The first in the series is NTGS Senior Executive Director, Ian Scrimgeour opening presentation on the Territory's minerals and energy exploration highlights for 2023. It provides an overview of recent discoveries, the NT's buoyant exploration sector driven by an increase in exploration for copper and critical minerals, and progress in the Beetaloo Sub-basin. Watch Highlights of minerals and energy exploration in the NT in 2023.
Dorothy Close, Director Regional Geoscience, presents current and upcoming pre-competitive geoscience projects in the NT. Watch Resourcing the Territory program: Unlocking brownfield and greenfield opportunities in the NT.
Tracy Rogers, Director Geoscience Information provides an overview of improvements made by NTGS over 2023 to make geoscience information more accessible. Watch Improved accessibility to geoscience information.
Tania Dhu, Manager Geophysics and Remote Sensing, highlights the newly acquired NTGS geophysical surveys and recent open file geophysics collected under the Geophysics and Drilling Collaborations program. Watch New and improved geophysical and remoted sensed data in the Northern Territory: 2023.
Elliott Foley, Senior Geologist in the Remote Sensing and Geophysics team, presents the work to date compiling a package of the existing stratigraphic, structural and other drilling data, and seismic data to support the construction of stratigraphic surfaces for a 3D model of the Birrindudu Basin. Watch Three-dimensional data compilation of the Birrindudu Basin; Progress toward building a 3D geological model.
Charles Verdel, Project Geologist in the NTGS' Basins Geoscience team, correlates the geological mapping undertaken with revisions to the stratigraphic and tectonic framework of eastern Amadeus Basin. Watch Insights into revised stratigraphy and structure: Updates from regional mapping in the eastern Amadeus Basin.
Tim Munson, Senior Geologist in the NTGS' Basins Geoscience team, presents work undertaken to redefine the lithological characteristics and age relationships of the Neoproterozoic units of the Beetaloo Sub-basin and of the Kiana Group. Watch Revision of the Neoproterozoic stratigraphic nomenclature of the Beetaloo Sub-basin, Northern Territory.
