A newly released study on the sedimentary facies and petrophysical signature of the Birrindudu Basin succession constitutes the first phase of an ongoing collaborative geoscientific project with CSIRO.
This multifaceted project examines the sedimentology and sediment-hosted mineral potential of the frontier Birrindudu Basin, to firstly establish a consistent stratigraphic framework through which to investigate basin evolution, and to subsequently quantify the basin’s prospectivity for sediment-hosted mineralisation (particularly sediment-hosted copper).
This newly released study provides a systematic description and characterisation of the sedimentary facies present in selected drill cores from across the Birrindudu Basin area, with an accompanying suite of petrophysical measurements to aid in stratigraphic assessments.
This represents a valuable addition to our knowledge of a frontier and hitherto underexplored sedimentary basin.
