The second edition Henbury geological map is the first of a series of new geological maps showing the geology of the Amadeus Basin in Central Australia. The map and explanatory notes are the result of new geological mapping and detailed, integrated geoscientific studies of the central part of the Amadeus Basin and have resulted in a revised lithostratigraphy, and a much-improved understanding of the regional geological and tectonic framework. The new Henbury explanatory notes provide a detailed description of the geology and geoscientific data available for the mapsheet area and present an improved understanding of stratigraphic correlations across the basin and an updated interpretation of its complex deformational history.
